Paranormal Investigators

Recently there has been a surge in the number of people interested in ghost hunting and paranormal investigation due to a number of TV shows such as ‘Most Haunted’ featuring paranormal investigators.

The ease of access to information on the internet and electronic equipment used in such activities has seen a drastic increase in the number of amateur paranormal investigators interested in ghost hunting, UFOs and electronic voice phenomenon. Some examples of the equipment that amateur paranormal investigators are likely to use include still and video camera, often equipped with night vision lenses, thermometers and other temperature measuring devices as well as Electromagnetic Field Meters. Paranormal investigators use this equipment to help provide evidence of a paranormal experience they may have.

Although most paranormal investigators only operate at an amateur level for the thrill of it some people take it much more seriously. Some paranormal investigators take it very seriously, and a few are even able to make a living as paranormal investigators, hiring out their services to people who’s lives are being disturbed by alleged paranormal activity.

There is a great deal of criticism levelled at paranormal investigators by sceptics who argue that there is very little solid scientific evidence for the type of paranormal activities they’re investigating. The methods of paranormal investigators are often criticised, particularly those who make extensive use of instruments as there is no scientific evidence to suggest a connection between temperature changes or disruption in electromagnetic fields and paranormal activity.
